Shortcrust Pastry

.25 cups flour

100g Butter unsalted

1 chilled Egg

1tbsp Chilled Water

Pinch Salt

 

Sieve Flour  into mixing bowl

 

Combine egg & water seperatley

 

Rub butter into the flour till you get a breadcrumb

don’t over do it or your hands will melt the butter

 

Make a well in flour & add the egg mix bring together as quickly as you can

Don’t over need or it won’t be crumble & short

 

Once it has come together wrap in cling film & put in the fridge to rest  Overnight if possible but at least an hour

Roll to desired shape &  thickness  & your done J

 

For a sweeter pastry add 100g icing sugar

     Try adding different spices to the pastry to complement the filling like Cinnamon in a pumpkin pie but don’t be heavy handed!!
